Susan Hyatt was born in Seattle, Washington as an only child to a European and Middle Eastern family. She moved to Switzerland and London shortly after and came to Los Angeles when she was five years old. At 14 years old, Susan recorded her first solo single and with KROQ DJ Rodney Bingenheimer's support opened up for Nina Hagen with her band Glitter Symphony at LA's First Glam Revival Show, along with all female 60's influenced garage band the Pandoras (which she was to later join as second guitarist). Susan joined several LA bands in the live circuit as keyboardist of Darling Cruel (Polygram Records), bassist of Feline (with Januaries' Debi Diamond), guitarist of the Pandoras (Elektra Records). After graduating UCLA she moved to London in 1992 where she released a psychedelic dance version of Simon and Garfunkel's 'Feelin' Groovy' on WEA Records with Kissing the Pink producers Nick and John.
In 1993 Susan formed grunge punk pop band Pillbox in London with bassist Carrie Melbourne (Babylon Zoo) and Sean Harrington and was quickly signed to Polygram Music. Pillbox charted a top 20 hit with their single "Invasion" (What Really Turns You On?) in the UK on X-Ray/Pinnacle Records and successfully toured all over the UK as a Kerrang Magazine favorite. Susan then formed her own record label: Not Your Common Records Ltd./Pinnacle with partner Jennifer Ivory. The long awaited debut album from Pillbox was released in 2000. Pillbox's music was heavily featured on TV show Dawsons Creek. Pillbox released 2 more EP's including "Sterilise Me" which became an Xfm London hit.
In 2001, Susan became a VJ/Television Presenter on the UK's live music chat show: The Pulse on MP3TV along with her MTV co-host Tim Kash.
Susan moved back to Los Angeles in 2002 and formed her current band: Stimulator, an American Pop band influenced by 1980's Disco and New Wave. Geoff Tyson (formerly of Snake River conspiracy and T-Ride) was her partner in forming this new project. Stimulator's debut album was licensed by the Lab/Universal Records. Susan also played guitar for Virgin Recording Artist Juliet Richardson and both acts went on tour as support for Duran Duran’s 2005 “Astronaut Tour."
Stimulator also opened The Go-Go's 2006 Reunion Tour. Susan is currently writing songs for TV and Films and working on a Rock Musical. Both Pillbox and Stimulator have gained success by licensing various songs. Stimulator's cover of the Olivia Newton-John song Magic, was featured on the Miramax film "Ella Enchanted",[1] on Macy's "Find Your Magic" commercials, and used in shows on NBC, MTV, and other networks. Susan also currently teaches singing to a select group of students at The Paul Green School of Rock Music[2]
October 2009, Susan Hyatt released her first Fitness DVD entitled "Susan Hyatt's Rockstar Workout".[3] Two 25 minute high energy workouts that burn up to 800 calories an hour. Susan teaches you how to Breathe like a Rockstar using the Diaphragm Method of Breathing that she learned from 'American Idol' vocal coach Ron Anderson. This method of breathing enables you to sustain a high heart rate using your oxygen properly so you don't need to rest between sets. In result you lose the most weight in the shortest amount of time possible. The DVD has informative Pop-Ups inspired by VH1. It's also the first workout DVD to shuffle your workout segments randomly like iTunes does with music. All the music on the DVD is original songs written by Susan and her band Stimulator.
